Microneedling

Microneedling is an effective treatment for acne scars, fine lines, large pores or those who want an effective skin rejuvenation treatment.

Microneedling utilizes the skin's natural ability to heal after damage. The Dermapen PRO, which we use at the clinic, consists of a lot of small, fine needles that are run over the face at a steady pace. Here, a lot of controlled microscopic damage is made to the top layer of the skin, which boosts the skin and makes it regenerate itself. When the skin is damaged, it reacts by working at high pressure to heal again. Collagen and elastin fibers in the skin are boosted, which promotes healing. The newly created amount of collagen and elastin fibers starts skin renewal and counteracts old scars, wrinkles and evens out the skin.

Before starting the treatment, the face is cleaned and disinfected. A serum containing necessary nutrients for the skin is applied, and this is worked in to stimulate the skin's collagen synthesis and to aid in healing. After the final treatment, you work with selected care products that are adapted to your skin type.

If you choose microneedling with 1-1.5 mm needles (medical) you will typically have a mask of cream applied before the treatment, which has an anesthetic effect, so that the treatment is milder to undergo. However, attention is drawn to the fact that recent research shows that anesthesia can inhibit the treatment's effect. You can discuss with your therapist whether anesthesia will be right for you.

The treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer skin. A series of treatments with 4-6 week intervals, of 2-3 rounds, is usually recommended, depending on the problem to be treated for.
